THANK YOU for this OUTSTANDING article!! Billy Cobham has been a part of my household since 1973. I have to say I am So Very Jelouse of you Seeing MO. FZ I have seen since Roxy tours. But MO in RAW FORM! WOW! Billy Cobham pioneered power drumming but let's not forget his body of work POST MO that crosses to all genres. Personal favorites include Hurricane with Ron Carter & Herbie. Shabazz stands as all time live drumming set!

BC is very accessible & nice to talk to. BC is UNDERRATED as a composer!! (Insert your drummer joke here!). Thanks again Bill M. GREAT article. Respect to you and YOUR body of work! Mike P.

Thnx Bill … so great to hear your description of exactly what I recall of seeing the MO in 72, (at Ebbet’s Field in Denver) with John asking for quiet in his white robe, Jerry putting out a Camel on stage, and Billy starting the (very slow) gong crescendo … I had arrived late from Colorado Springs and was told it was sold out! (small club) ….I begged them and they sat me right on the floor in front, 10ft from Billy, in his football jersey, shorts, track shoes and striped Addidas socks. Life was never the same…

Wow Billy is the best! Spectrum revisited at BB King's was a gift. The album broke the mold, first hearing it on the lawn at Roosevelt Stadium Jersey City waiting for... who cares? It made the day magic and I had to find out who made those silky smooth futuristic grooves. We already knew him from other acts but this disc was different. Drummer up front! Great article 👏

Just began your hep cat jive tome Swing It! And Im all in. I'll get back to you the flip flop!

This is very off topic. Do you know anything about Bill Laswell’s current status. He is a an old friend from Albion, Mi. A very good friend. We played together in the first playing he ever did. I know he was sick and made small donations to the save Orange Studio Fund. Thank you.
